As food banks across the country geared up to feed thousands of hungry Americans during the Thanksgiving holiday, HCA teachers and students partnered with Sampson County Social Services to do their part to end the fight against hunger. Through the Building Baskets initiative, our students and staff donated enough food items and paper products to fill twenty-five baskets with the makings of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Our friends at Butterball graciously provided thirty turkeys to complete the baskets. Kindergartners created a special Thanksgiving craft to send along with each basket, and our seniors provided handwritten notes to wish each basket recipient a happy Thanksgiving. We are proud to be a part of this mission and are reminded this holiday season that it is truly more of a blessing to give than it is to receive.
